How long should I keep a newly spayed cat away from other cats and activity?
We're picking up a 6 month old kitten from a rescue shelter on Saturday and we already own a cat. The cat that we're picking up was spayed today, so she'll have a few days to recuperate, but I was wondering how long I should keep her away from the cat we already own.
He's a bit feisty and I really don't know the recovery time for a spay surgery.
The last female I had fixed, I picked her up and questioned the vet about any possible pain, etc. He said she would be fine and would not need anything for pain. I did not really believe him. I did not know what to expect. I knew what I felt like after surgery--horrible. Got her in the living room, turned my back for one second, and missed her. She had snuck out the front door and was rolling and playing in the leaves! I got her back in as quickly as I could, but I could not even tell she had had surgery from her behavior. The other cats sniffed her because she smelled different, but actually treated her no differently.
Of course, ask your vet how you should treat her as this is your best source.
